These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of the Privacy Shield Chrome extension ("Privacy Shield", "the Product"), provided by Privacy Shield, a sole proprietorship based in India ("we", "us", "our"). By purchasing or using Privacy Shield, you agree to these Terms.

1. The product

Privacy Shield is a browser extension that detects patterns resembling sensitive information (such as API keys, passwords, and other credentials) in text you paste, and offers to block or redact it before the paste completes. Detection runs locally in your browser.

2. License grant

On successful payment, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Privacy Shield, subject to the activation limit of the plan you purchased:

• Personal plan ($4): usable on 1 browser profile at a time
• Multi-profile plan ($6): usable on up to 3 browser profiles at a time

A "browser profile" means one Chrome profile — separate profiles on the same physical device (e.g. a Work profile and a Personal profile on one laptop) each count individually toward this limit, because each profile runs its own independent copy of the extension.

Your license key is personal to you. You may not resell, share, or publish it. You may deactivate a profile to free up capacity and activate a different one, subject to your plan's limit.

3. Pricing and payment

Prices are shown in USD and are one-time payments — there is no subscription and no recurring charge. Applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax, etc.) are calculated and added at checkout based on your location. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, acting as merchant of record; your transaction is subject to their terms of service as well as these Terms.

4. Refunds

To request a refund, contact us at the email below or use Dodo Payments' customer portal linked in your purchase receipt. Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Once a refund is processed, the associated license key is deactivated and will no longer pass validation.

5. No warranty — please read this carefully

Privacy Shield is a best-effort pattern-matching tool. It is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. In particular:

• We do not guarantee that Privacy Shield will detect every instance of sensitive information, and it may occasionally flag things that are not actually sensitive (false positives) or miss things that are (false negatives).
• Privacy Shield is a supplementary safeguard, not a substitute for your own judgment or your organization's data-handling policies.
• You remain solely responsible for what you paste and where.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Privacy Shield — including damages resulting from sensitive information that was not detected. Our total liability for any claim relating to Privacy Shield is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to circumvent the license activation system
• Reverse engineer the Product beyond what's permitted by applicable law
• Use the Product for any unlawful purpose

8. Intellectual property

Privacy Shield, including its source code, design, and branding, is our property (or licensed to us) and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Purchasing a license does not transfer ownership of the Product to you — only the right to use it under these Terms.

9. Termination

We may deactivate a license if payment is reversed (refund or chargeback), if these Terms are violated, or if activation limits are circumvented. You may stop using Privacy Shield at any time by uninstalling it.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent version. Continued use of Privacy Shield after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
